Marla Runnels is the Account Settlement Manager for the firm’s Account Settlement team. In this role, she is responsible for implementing the account settlement program and managing all aspects of former resident collection activities and communications. Marla brings over 12 years of property management experience to her role with Cortland.
Prior to joining Cortland’s Operations team, Marla served as the Business Manager for The Village at Lake Park, a 1738-unit Cortland community. In this role, Marla consistently led the community in achieving month-end delinquency of one percent or less, while also managing financial expenses to maximize the community’s income. During her tenure in this role, Marla helped the community meet or exceed its NOI goals for five consecutive quarters. Prior to her promotion to Business Manager, Marla served in the roles of Assistant Business Manager and Resident Services Professional at The Village at Lake Park. Previously, she worked as a leasing consultant for a 304-unit community in Daytona Beach, FL. Her experience also includes hospitality and student housing resident service roles.
Marla earned her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology with a minor in History from the University of Florida.
