Marvin Banks joined Cortland in 2011 and is the firm’s Corporate Advisor. He brings a strong capital market network in the public, private, and bank finance sectors, as well as relationships with the equity investor community. He is a proven leader, strategic planner, and experienced in complex analysis.
Before joining Cortland, Marvin served as an investor and advisor in real estate. He helped form the Private Bank of Buckhead in 2006, and then served as its lead director. Previously, Marvin was Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Executive Committee at Gables Residential for 15 years. He led the company’s $475 million initial public offering and architected its subsequent capital structure. Marvin teaches graduate courses on REITs at Emory University. He is a past faculty member at Georgia State University and The University of Texas at Austin. A certified public accountant, Marvin serves on various boards of local non-profits.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The University of Texas.
