Robin Rice’s executive leadership experience is unique in the industry as it spans both retail and wholesale. Well versed in multi-channel businesses, her extensive background involves bricks and mortar, e-commerce, and catalog channels. Robin’s in depth knowledge of department stores, specialty stores, and mass merchants give her an unusually broad view of the world of retail.
Her experience has included leadership of all aspects of the business marketing, finance, merchandising, planning, production, operations, and creative. Robin has worked for many retail and wholesale brands such as Macy’s, Ocean Pacific, Gap, Carter’s, Williams-Sonoma, Serena & Lily and NapaStyle. As VP and then SVP at Gap, Inc. Robin was charged with growing the fledgling babyGap into a separate brand/chain for the corporation. Within seven years it approached $1 billion worldwide. In her time at Gap, Inc. she also had responsibility for the GapKids brand for several years.As Executive Vice President at Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Robin executed the growth plan for the emerging brand, West Elm — building the organization, expanding the product offering, strengthening the multichannel strategy, and growing the business to over $200 million in 3 years. As Executive Vice President of Serena & Lily, Robin played an important role in building this later stage home furnishings and décor start-up into a recognized, respected, and aspirational brand in the marketplace. Her focus on merchandising, planning and sourcing helped create the structure and platform for continued exponential growth. Most recently Robin was CEO of NapaStyle, Inc., a brand bringing the Napa Valley lifestyle to consumers with an emphasis on home and entertaining. Robin worked to re-focus the brand, strengthen the brand voice, and restructure the organization.
In addition to serving on the advisory board of Cortland, Robin is currently on the board of The Marin Theatre Company (Treasurer) and the advisory board of the Greater Bay Area Make-a-Wish Foundation. She received her bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and film from Boston University.
